Every trainer, coach, or teacher has always had a student that they felt if given the right opportunity, could excel in something. This is what has driven the people behind Avalon Family Charities to create our scholarship program. We feel strongly that the pursuit of equestrian competition builds such confidence and strength of character so we started an equine sports charity. We wish to help those riders who are dedicated to their sport but just may need a “leg up” to accomplish their goals.
For 2023, we have generous donations from the community to award deserving riders - thanks to the Fulton family in memory of Jodi Fulton. Jodi was a beloved member of our stables and began her riding career with lesson horses, as we all do. She loved competing, and showing but also loved every aspect of horses and was just a wonderful person to spend time with at the barn. Her positive attitude and kind demeanor made her truly special to us. Jodi had all her dreams come true when her husband Brian found L A Sir Top Hat, a handsome show horse, and they enjoyed many shows together both under saddle and driving. Jodi’s love of horses and students will lead us into this first year of giving with a happy heart full of special memories of someone who taught us all about strength and love.
Our selection committee for the scholarships will consist of two members of Jodi’s family, a representative from the equine industry, and one board member for Avalon Family Charities Board of Directors. The applications will be presented to the committee members “blind” or with the names of applicants removed. The recipients will receive an email May 20th if they have been awarded a scholarship.
